Romcom is the genre readers binge in one sitting, send to their group chat, and pre-order on autopilot — if you write the kind of romcom they’re already hunting for.

Write the Romcom is a two-day live intensive for authors who want to build a funny, market-smart romantic comedy from idea to launch plan. Over two sessions on 3 June 2026 & the day after, you’ll get current romcom tropes, reader expectations, comedy hooks, cover trends, banter, blurbs, and marketing angles — then turn it all into a practical book plan you can start writing from immediately.

This is not a vague “come up with an idea” class. You’ll build the actual foundation of your book: concept, trope stack, comedy engine, couple dynamic, cover direction, blurb starter, and launch hooks. By the end, you’ll have a clear, usable plan for a romcom that feels fun to write and easy for readers to understand.

What you’ll build across the two days

This is a live, interactive intensive — not a pre-recorded course you’ll bookmark and never finish. Coral teaches in real time, breaks down current bestsellers on screen, and works through your concept with you as you go.

The Romcom Market Right Now

Which tropes are selling, which are tired, what readers expect on page one, and the “feel” that signals romcom (vs. romance with jokes vs. women’s fic). We pull live examples from Amazon, TikTok, and current bestseller lists.

Your Trope Stack & Couple Dynamic

How to layer two or three tropes into something that feels fresh, pick the couple dynamic that creates built-in conflict, and lock the central question your romcom answers. You leave with your stack on paper.

The Comedy Engine

Where the jokes actually come from. Banter beats, situational comedy, voice work, the difference between “funny” and “trying to be funny,” and how to bake comedy into structure so it doesn’t depend on you being “on” every scene.

Covers That Read As Romcom Instantly

Current illustrated & photo cover trends, palette signals, typography patterns, and what makes a thumbnail say “romcom” in 0.2 seconds on a phone screen. You leave with a clear cover brief for your book.

Blurb Starter & Launch Hooks

The romcom blurb formula readers respond to, the hook line your book is built around, and the marketing angles that make a romcom easy to sell — from TikTok to newsletter swaps to ads. You leave with a working blurb draft.

What you’ll walk away with

A romcom concept clear enough you could pitch it in one sentence over coffee

Your trope stack and couple dynamic, mapped to current reader demand

A working comedy engine — structural, not dependent on you cracking jokes every page

A cover direction brief you could hand to a designer tomorrow

A blurb starter that already speaks “romcom” to scrolling readers

Three to five launch hooks — the angles you’ll lead with in marketing, ads, and reels

A practical, written book plan you can open Monday morning and start drafting from

This intensive is for you if:

You want to write romcom that actually sells — not just a romance you call funny

You’ve got a vague idea (or six) and you need someone to help you pick, focus, and stack tropes that work

You want a book plan rooted in what readers click on right now — not what worked in 2018

You learn faster when someone walks you through the work live — cover trends, blurb teardowns, the lot

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have written a romcom before?

No. The intensive is built for first-time romcom authors and for experienced romance writers crossing over into the genre. You just need an idea — even a fuzzy one. We’ll sharpen it together.

What if I don’t have an idea yet?

Even better. Day one walks you through the romcom market and trope stacks, so by the end of session one you’ll have a concept on paper. Day two builds on it.

Are there recordings?

No. This is a live, attend-once experience. The value is in showing up across both days, doing the work in real time, and getting live feedback from Coral. There are no recordings or replays.

How long are the sessions?

Each day runs as a live working session of roughly two hours, with worktime, examples, and live Q&A. You’ll be doing the work alongside Coral, not just watching slides.

Can I write sweet/clean romcom or do I need to write spicy?

Both. We cover heat-level signalling in covers, blurbs, and marketing so your romcom finds its right reader — whether that’s a sweet Hallmark-feel or a chaotic-banter-with-on-page-spice flavour.
