I use AI to write books. Here's where I start.

Before I ask AI to draft, I decide what story I'm telling. I choose the reader promise, the characters, the conflict, and the direction of the plot. Then I use AI to explore possibilities and find the weak spots. I decide what stays.

If you found me through AFP's profile of my AI writing process, What's the Plot? shows you the first stage of that process.

In this 60-minute class, I'll show you how I build a story brief that gives AI something useful to work with. You'll use your own idea—or start with a few tropes—to follow along.

What we'll do

  • Define the romance promise and the pressure that drives your story
  • Give AI a clear brief and ask it for several story seed options
  • Choose and rewrite the strongest option
  • Use AI to test five turning points for weak stakes and missing character choices
  • Sketch a first-pass idea for how the story could connect to a series

You'll leave with a two-sentence story seed, five turning points, and a clearer sense of how I direct AI. This is the starting point of my wider writing system; the deeper work of characters, outlining, drafting, and revision comes next.

What's included: A 60-minute class with Coral Hart and a student workbook. You get the student workbook in the live class. Bring access to an AI chat tool if you'd like to follow along with your own story.
