The Last-Minute Club: the three covers of the pack

The concept

Harper, Jules and Nell built Northbank’s most resourceful event rescue crew around one rule: nobody panics alone. A burst pipe, a missing caterer or a spectacularly bad seating plan is just another working day. Each interconnected standalone follows a different woman as a practical crisis collides with a private longing, giving the series a fresh couple and a familiar friendship at every turn.

Northbank After HoursRiverside venues, overbooked kitchens, borrowed meeting rooms and the crew’s chaotic planning table. A deadline gives each romance momentum without making the couple’s future depend on a single grand gesture.
A Business Built On FriendshipHarper schedules, Jules designs and Nell makes the numbers behave. They share ambitions and disagreements as well as emergency snacks, giving the series a lasting relationship beyond the central romances.
Intended readershipFor adult romance readers who enjoy sharp banter, competent heroines, affectionate workplace chaos and a different couple in each book.
Reader promiseA central love story with an earned happily-ever-after in every book. The friends remain active in one another’s lives, and comedy grows from personality and circumstance rather than cruelty.
Tone & contentBright, flirty and generous. Moderate open-door heat in the novels; the blurbs remain non-explicit. All romantic leads are adults aged twenty-eight or older.

The people behind the promise

Harper Dunn • 29The scheduler. Excellent in a crisis, less comfortable admitting she wants something that cannot be guaranteed.
Jules Nadir • 30The designer. Funny, bold and tired of being called difficult whenever she states what she needs.
Nell Ashford • 28The administrator. The quiet centre of the crew, ready to stop treating her own ambitions as optional extras.
Mateo Ríos • 31A stage manager whose calm improvisation infuriates Harper until she sees the preparation underneath it.
Ollie Keene • 32 / Rafi Quinn • 30A caterer with unfinished history and an actor who hides behind a good joke: two men who must show up honestly when the performance ends.

Series progression

  1. 01 / Letting goHarper discovers that flexibility can be a form of trust.
  2. 02 / Showing upJules and Ollie replace old assumptions with consistent, practical care.
  3. 03 / Being seenNell asks for the life she wants, while the crew chooses sustainable growth.

Please Reschedule the Kiss

Her calendar has no room for him. He keeps turning up anyway.

Harper Dunn has a schedule for everything, including the six months she is absolutely not dating. Then a burst pipe shuts the venue for her biggest contract, and stage manager Mateo Ríos arrives with a replacement hall, a crooked smile and an alarming habit of saying they will work it out.

For fourteen days, their desks share a room, their evenings disappear into rehearsals and every sensible boundary becomes inconvenient. Mateo is not careless; he is maddeningly good. Harper is not impossible; she is carrying more than anyone has noticed. A late-night almost-kiss was definitely not in the revised timetable.

When a dream booking threatens to pull them in different directions, saving the fundraiser is suddenly the straightforward part. Harper can plan for every disaster except wanting him to stay. Mateo can improvise a stage out of practically anything—but he needs her to choose him without an escape clause.

Story focusOpposites attract • workplace proximity • competence and banter.
Place in the seriesBoth keep meaningful careers. Their happy ending rests on negotiated time, shared effort and room for uncertainty.

The Seating Chart Mutiny

Two feuding families. One wedding. Her ex in the kitchen.

Jules Nadir can make a leaking village hall look like a luxury venue. She cannot make the bride’s parents sit within twenty feet of the groom’s, and she has no intention of making polite conversation with the replacement caterer. Unfortunately, the replacement caterer is Ollie Keene. Her ex-fiancé.

Ollie says he has changed. Jules would prefer he change the canapés and stay out of her floor plan. But between a rebellious flower girl, a mysteriously multiplying guest list and relatives conducting diplomacy by dessert, their old teamwork starts to return. So does the attraction neither of them managed to misplace.

The reasons they broke up were real, and a successful wedding will not erase them. If Ollie wants a second chance, he will have to do more than make her laugh. If Jules wants one too, she will have to risk an honest answer when the party is over.

Story focusSecond chance • forced collaboration • a wedding with no easy seats.
Place in the seriesTheir earlier breakup grew from unequal emotional labour. Reconciliation follows observable changes and a clear agreement about sharing responsibility.

Plus One, Minus the Plan

The date is pretend. The problem is how well it fits.

Nell Ashford has spent ten years being remembered as the helpful girl who held everybody’s bags. At her school reunion, she would like to be remembered for literally anything else. Actor and longtime friend Rafi Quinn offers a simple solution: he will be her date, she will stop apologising for existing, and nobody will have to know it is pretend.

Rafi is excellent at the affectionate glances. Alarmingly excellent. Nell is less good at ignoring how naturally his hand finds hers, or how carefully he listens when she mentions the business idea she has never told her friends.

Then one convincing performance becomes a string of very real invitations. With Rafi facing a touring contract and Nell ready to ask for a bigger role in the crew, they can no longer hide behind the reunion story. A borrowed boyfriend was meant to help her feel seen. Being loved as herself is a much bigger risk.

Story focusFriends to lovers • fake dating • the quiet heroine claims the spotlight.
Place in the seriesNell earns recognition through her own work. She and Rafi choose an honest relationship with room for both ambition and distance.
